Does Chiropractic Treatment Hurt?

Treatment is usually comfortable, and techniques can be changed or stopped based on your preferences and response.

Dr. Natalie Lopez speaking with a patient as part of personalized care.

You should feel able to speak up throughout treatment. Some areas may feel tender, and different techniques feel different. If something hurts, feels uncomfortable, or makes you uneasy, tell Dr. Natalie so she can pause and discuss another option with you.

You have a say in how treatment feels

  • Some tender areas can feel sensitive during assessment or treatment, but you should be able to communicate and pause at any time.
  • Adjustments are only one option. Care may include gentler mobilization, soft-tissue techniques, acupuncture, or exercise.
  • Tell Dr. Natalie if you are nervous. Understanding the plan and giving consent are part of the visit.

Tell Dr. Natalie what would help you feel comfortable

If you are nervous about a particular technique, mention it before treatment starts. You can ask what you are likely to feel, why the technique is being suggested, and what the alternatives are. Agreeing to an assessment does not mean you have to agree to every treatment option.

If you notice new, worsening, or worrying symptoms after a visit, seek advice rather than assuming you need to push through them. Urgent symptoms need medical attention.
